Brewery & Taproom

Ainsty Ales Brewery & Taproom was founded in 2014 by Born & Bred 'Yorkie' Andy Herrington.  We pride ourselves in consistently brewing award-winning beers which are all are produced at our York based brewery.
The ethos of Ainsty Ales is simple; to provide great tasting beers & lagers for our customers whilst working closely with local businesses and charities along the way. We do this while celebrating our roots in the vibrant and fantastic City of York.
As part of the Circular-Economy we aim to minimize all waste from the production process as much as possible.  Our spent grains are collected weekly by the Dairy Farmer in Copmanthorpe for animal feed, spent Hops are all used by local allotment holders for 'mulch' and our spent yeast is partially used in all future brews and partially .... well that's a surprise so you'll have to wait and see!  
Our Brewery Taproom is open all year round on a Friday, 3-9pm & from May to October on Saturday, 2-7pm. We love supporting our local Street-Food vendors who serve delicious food most weekends (please check out our Facebook page for weekly updates) and we very often have Live-Music.  Our award-winning casked and kegged beers & lagers, local Gins & Ciders can all be found on the bar. Find out more here and on Facebook.

Independently Produced Beers For All to Enjoy!

Our award-winning craft beers are brewed by a small dedicated team, Brewers Stu & Aaron take care of production, you'll have bought some beer from Claire before you know it, Nigel must be the friendliest delivery person around and head-honcho Andy even rolls up his sleeves!
We have a 10 Barrel Brewhouse with a 12 barrel Mash Tun, hot & cold Liquor Tanks and a Copper Kettle.  It also houses three Fermenters & Conditioning tanks and is capable of producing 5000L of beer every week, with enough room to double capacity if needed!
  

COVID-Secure Measures

Fingers-crossed we now have COVID under control, we still promote regular cleanliness and sanitising at the Brewery & Taproom and encourage all those visiting to do so too
