Ainsty Ales Brewery & Taproom was founded by Born & Bred 'Yorkie' Andy Herrington to provide a distinctive range of craft beers and ales, all produced in the 'York & Ainsty Wapentake' a once self-governing area dating back to the Middle Ages, where the brewery gets its name.
The ethos of the brewery is simple; to provide great tasting experiences for our customers and to support local businesses and charities along the way.  We do this while celebrating our roots in the vibrant and fantastic City of York.
Our Brewery Taproom is open every Friday from 3-9pm & Saturday from 2-7pm. We love supporting our Street Food partners, including Bistro Guy & Yorkshire Pizzeria who will serving delicious Pizzas every Friday. Food options will also be available from a host of independent food businesses every Saturdays. We’ll be serving a selection of casked and kegged Ainsty Ales, local Gins & Ciders as well as regular Live-Music on offer. Find out more here, including all our COVID-safe measures and on Facebook.

Independently Produced Beers For All to Enjoy!

Our award-winning craft beers are brewed by a small dedicated team, Head-Brewer Andy Capel, Assistant-Brewer Mark & head-honcho Andy all roll up their sleeves!
We have a 10 Barrel Brewhouse with a 12 barrel Mash Tun, hot & cold Liquor Tanks and a Copper Kettle.  It also houses three Fermenters & Conditioning tanks and is capable of producing 4800L of beer every week, with enough room to double capacity if needed!
  

COVID-Secure Measures

Whether you fill up at our Drive-Thru or the Taproom we have different COVID-Secure measures in place. You can find individual information on those measures by following the links above.

 

 Measures in place across the brewery include: 

  • All Drive-Thru customers must stay outside the brewery and follow the one-way system
  • Customers are advised to wear face coverings when not seated at a table 
  • Customers must follow the one-way system when inside the building
  • Hand sanitisers are available
  • Staff will be regularly cleaning and sanitising all public areas
